George Coppolo has been admitted to practice law in Connecticut since 1975. Before coming to Gordon Muir and Foley he engaged in the private practice of law and served as Chief Attorney for the Connecticut General Assembly’s Office of Legislative Research, where he worked closely with the Connecticut General Assembly’s Judiciary Committee and the Insurance and Real Estate Committee. 

During his years at the Connecticut Assembly, George worked on virtually every bill that became law and which dealt with wills and probate, trusts and estates, real estate, civil and criminal liability, condominiums and other forms of common interest communities, corporations, limited liability companies, and other forms of business ownership, and discrimination. He assisted legislative leaders, committee chairpersons, and individual law makers to develop legislation and to explain the legal effect of proposed and enacted legislation.

At Gordon Muir and Foley, George’s fields of practice include the drafting of wills and trusts, estate planning including special needs trusts and Medicaid related issues and planning; real estate transactions; personal injury; and business related issues.

George is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, and a member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Elder Law Section, Estates and Probate Section, and the Real Property Section.

He sometimes works with the Counsel for the Office of the Chief Public Defender on special projects relating to legislation, habeas corpus, freedom of information, and issues relating to legal ethics.

George is very active at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hartford Connecticut where he is currently serving as the President of the Parish Council, Chairman of the Education Committee, and Chairman of the Technology and Website Committee. He is in the process of becoming a Eucharistic Minister for those who are home bound or in health care facilities.
